The Secret of the Gold Queen - STORY

This one-act chamber opera teaches children about kindness, honesty, and good sportsmanship. Using elements of chess as an inspirational framework, it tells a story of a conflict between two neighboring Gold and Silver Chess Kingdoms and shows that the true winning strength comes from treating everyone with kindness and respect.

This fairytale, in which chess pieces become the main characters, will ignite the imagination of both young and old. The noble Gold Queen who cultivates peace and harmony in her Gold Chess Kingdom is faced with an unthinkable challenge against the angry and power-hungry Silver King (who used to be kind when he was polished like new but became angry, resentful, and rude as he has become “tarnished” with time).

An unexpected conflict, a mysterious secret, an intrigue, a treacherous plot, daunting anticipation – all will culminate in a dramatic battle of the Gold and Silver Chess Kingdoms, the outcome of which will be a powerful lesson taught by the generous and noble Gold Queen.

The opera is intended for children’s audiences and to be performed by professional singers.
